US Visits

When I was in DC in June 2013, I met with Burma Desk Officials from Department of States. They asked me about our nation and current affairs. They also ask me what I want to discuss about our Country. I discuss about the following. (1) To uplift sanction (2) To access US Market (3) To give more exchange programs. US needs to uplift sanction, as it doesn't work. It made Myanmar more dependent upon China and neighboring countries. It inflated the black market and grow cronies and corrupted the economy and later systems then come culture. To access the US Market is also important, as at present Myanmar products were not allowed to label "Made in Myanmar." We have been trading with neighboring Countries like China and Thai for long enough to make the history but we do not have much benefit. In order to build the strong economy, we need to access the US Market, as many supermarkets in here promotes particular nation brands and products, so I wonder when can we see "Wal-Mart is promoting Myanmar (Burma) Brands in their stores and shelves spaces." Last not least, to give more exchange programs, as we have seen many many students from around the world is enjoying the education system and very very few people from Myanmar were here. Now some US Companies come and invest in Myanmar, thank to them, as they bring CSR Practices well in Myanmar, and it is one of the differentiation factors among and between previous Business Practices. Then we need to promote Myanmar people on Business matters, the exchange programs and visits will be greatly enhance our nation development. As in the past, we are not much business minded and do not have strategic look on economic issues.
